Q. Does my child need
a scarf?
A. We recommend a neck gaiter, or muffler rather than a scarf. The loose
end of a scarf could present a safety hazard.
Q. Are mittens or gloves
better?
A. Mittens are always warmer than gloves. All outer wear, including hand
covering, should be of a water resistant material such as nylon or Gore-Tex.
Fleece or woolen material will collect snow and become wet, soggy and cold.
Q. Do I have to have
ski pants?
A. Ski pants are not a necessity, but some type of snow pant is recommended.
All outer wear should be of a water resistant material such as nylon or Gore-Tex.
Woolen or cotton material such as denim will collect snow and become wet,
soggy and cold.
Q. What kind of hat
should I wear?
A. Something warm to cover the ears; wool or fleece material is advisable.
Q. How many pairs of
socks should I wear?
A. One pair of warm socks designed for winter wear.
Q. Can
I wear blue jeans to ski?
A. If you have wind pants, or rain pants to wear over the blue jeans you
will remain warmer. Blue jeans or sweat pants as an outer layer will collect
snow and become wet, soggy and cold.
